Quote from jonno koot :i didnt use any mod only newtweakorder

"Mod" = abbreviated word for "Modification, Modified, Modifier"

"Tweak" = Fine-tuning or adjusting a complex system, usually an electronic device. Tweaks are any small modifications intended to improve a system.

note: Any program you use with LFS that isn't LFS itself and can change things in the game like values, car bodies, tracks, etc... is a called a " mod" or "tweak", it's the exact same thing. Some servers ban permanently for it which is a risk you take when using that kind of thing.

Sorry though, there isn't anything anyone can do unless they are the admin of that server. Try contacting them.

Quote from jaco1981 :why do s2 guys always pick on demo racers? im not a lfs crack whore, i dont own s2 because if you convert the price into south africn rand, its about 30 liters of petrol and at the moment i cant afford that.

one night, in a chat room there was a s2 guy, i ask him if he wanted to drift, but he just went on to say how much better driver he is, because of s2, so i ask him to prove it and join me for a drift, but he left......point is, having s2 dont make you any beter at driving than demo.....you buy s2, not earn it.

lol man I would buy you an S2 license just for having to deal with some S2 users bullying ya, I went through that as well as a demo driver and it's not very pleasant. It really only comes from a few users like that but not all S2 drivers are that way.

Just the fact that you challenged him and were ready to back up your words while he was the one that couldn't backup his words and then left is all that matters as it shows who was better without even having to get in the car.

Some people in LFS and even in real life are that way and is really sad but no matter who says they are the best, it doesn't mean sh** unless they can prove it.

If you want to battle, pick a car, a track, and a time. I will gladly accept your challenge.
How is the in-game racing line for trajectory paths in LFS calculated?
Pablo Donoso

I noticed when I view the racing line in LFS that some of the trajectory paths are ones that the fastest driver's don't follow and either turn in too soon or too late in relation to the turns. I dissected nearly all the turns to bisect the angles to calculate the real apex positions and mapped out all the geometric apexes. I noticed that some of the racing lines in the game didn't use the largest arc radius allowable for single turns, and a more complex system of arc radii for S-section turns where the largest arc radius is found in the final turn.

My question is how are the racing lines calculated in LFS? Is it by the fastest hotlap set, by mathematical breakdown and calculation of the turn angles, or by some other method?

In the images below, I took a snap of the game to show exactly what I mean. (Click to enlarge)

The green line represents the in-game trajectory path but it's not allowing the car to take the largest arc radius possible. It actually cuts into the turn much sooner forcing the car into a smaller turn radius that apexes the corner before the geometric apex.

The yellow line represents the line I calculated for that corner to be the largest arc radius allowable which if you've raced on KY oval before, you'll notice as well that the turn in point and trajectory path is about the same line where the fastest drivers position their cars as well.

Sorry it's a bit of a complex question to explain which is one I've been wanting to ask for a while. I created images for another project which relates to it and it helps to explain the question.

Here's something simple made in a few minutes to start off with as tire tread marks with text requires a bit of contrast and takes time. (Click to enlarge image to full-size)

The bans are only for 12 hours as long as it wasn't set longer by the admins for [DUB] server, you should be able to return by now. If still unable to, try going to their site Dubteam.blog.com and contacting them that way.
LFS Competitions For Graphic Design & Skins
Pablo Donoso
S3 licensed

It's been a while since LFS hosted an official contest for graphic design & skins although there are member-created competitions, it's not quite the same as if LFS were hosting the contest such as the LX4/LX6 Skinning Competition or even the LFS Logo Competition.

Hopefully there will be more Official LFS Competitions in the future. I think it's a great chance for users to become more actively involved in LFS's community in a fun way that encourages good sportsmanship. When I first joined LFS years ago, I remember seeing the contests with the positive effect they had and wish we had them more often!

There are a lot of crashers in the demo servers that can be a headache @ times but once you get S1 or S2, it rarely happens.

I think that means the server didn't detect an incoming connection while you were trying to join the game so it basically dropped the request. It happens but is usually temporary.

Since LFS is intended to go on the c:\ drive directly, there's really only a few things needed to goof-proof the installation process.

- non-interactive installation (no user input except "Do you wish to install?")
- overide destination path (defaults to c:\lfs, overwrites if LFS is present)
- uninstall forced to c:\lfs & subfolders only

Quote from ricky2010 :
...It is now installed in C:\Documents and Settings\"my user name"\LFS

Will this cause any issues if I find the need to unistall?...

Yeah it most likely would do the exact same thing if it's the same uninstaller version as the one that removed more than it was supposed to. I'd suggest just using a file shredder and deleting only the LFS folder that way if you need to until it's fixed just to be on the safe side.

Awww, I'm sure you can do it just as good as anyone else can though! It just takes a little practice is all. Which part are you having trouble with? Perhaps I can help.

Nomination for a best friend!

I have a best friend of mine that plays F1 2011 nearly everyday. He said I should get it and race him as we have fun just messing around @ work. (We're co-workers that handle Tech Support)

I mentioned to him about LFS so we could race. When he went to download the game, he said "Oh my god! This game looks epic, how come I've never heard of this sooner? WHY HAVE YOU BEEN HOLDING OUT ON ME?!?!?" to which point I laughed and said "You never asked... lol".

He is into computer hardware & loves anything that has to do with car racing online. I hope to get him more involved in LFS in the future as he is very helpful where we both work and would be a helpful member of this community.

He's from Australia and unfortunately all his money goes into paying his bills. I offered to buy him a license personally as we're really close friends but he won't accept my offer. He is the type that he won't accept anything he didn't work for or earn himself and is why I nominated him here. I'm hoping if he can win a license that he can't say "no" to it and would be able to enjoy LFS as much as we all do. In fact, I know he'd love LFS as he already likes the demo version a lot.

Thanks for the time & consideration!

Quote from edge3147 :more useless posting from someone that has nothing to do with this entire situation, thanks for your feedback, i'll log it in my suggestion box and get back to you later.

lol perhaps we got off on the wrong foot... Let's try this again....

Hello, I'm RF. I work as Tech Support & as a Network Security Specialist for a few social network sites. I noticed your reply in regards to your inquiry about "perma-banning" and would like to explain why it's not as easy as it sounds.

Quote from RF :DoS = 1 computer, DDoS = multiple computers. It is usually a UDP flooder that targets the IP and can't be tracked because if a person is smart enough to do it, they are smart enough to know how to mask their IP.

The reason why someone who can do this can't be banned is because their IP is rarely their actual IP but instead is either a proxy or VPN service. A username can be banned but unless you also ban the entire IP range of whatever service they use to connect, there's no way to stop them from connecting.

The best protection against any type of abuse relating to a hacker is by knowing exactly how it's done. Googling what to do won't help as it takes a hacker to stop a hacker, simple as that.

Feel better now?

...why can't they issue a permaban for someone who is:

1) Breaking the LAW.
2) Causing havoc and disrupting the LFS community
3) Has no regard for his actions.

I lolled hard @ that ... If you knew how DoS / DDoS works, you'd understand why it can't be stopped. DoS = 1 computer, DDoS = multiple computers. It is usually a UDP flooder that targets the IP and can't be tracked because if a person is smart enough to do it, they are smart enough to know how to mask their IP. Long story short, he is a hacker and shouldn't be confronted.

BTW if LLM were trolls, how come they are always the ones that are helping people in the forums most times? Maybe because they aren't trolls...

I tried also and even with the brightest level settings, it looks a bit darker. Feel free to check out the video below on "How to edit DDS files" and you can give it a go as it's not too hard.

Experimenting with different color gauges for the BF1 wheel and noticed some area in the center that appear darker but only in certain light angles when the sunlight hits the wheel. I tried different settings including DXT1 and DXT3, no luck.

I think the minimap rendering speed has to do with your hardware and how fast it can process the information, I don't think the speed can be manually adjusted.

Thanks for the tip on Chameleon Paint! I'll give it a go as I've been trying to get the same effect!

No worries about improving your laptimes right away, all these things take time to gain experience which is the only difference between you and a faster driver, the experience level. Good luck mate!

It's easier to get Paint.net & watch the video below so you can edit the tire DDS file (LogoAlpha.dds) and can make it look exactly how you want it to look.

Thanks Spotty & Fragen! I've tried several programs in regards to editing DDS files and have found Paint.net to be the easiest program to use since it can open, edit, and save any DDS file with DXT1, DXT3, or DXT5 settings. DXT3 and DXT5 are especially useful when editing gauge clusters that have an alpha channel where the RPM lights and engine data appears.

Some themes I created a while back including Monster Energy, LFS Flames, and LFS Chains. To install, copy all the files from the zip folders into the "C:\LFS\Data\Pic" folder. I also included the LFS Default theme so you can easily switch back to the default appearance and a custom "interface color config" file that goes in the "C:\LFS" main folder that matches text colors with all 3 themes.
